I recently purchased a 1/8 scale 1981 trans am kit off of Evilbay and I will be using it for a bases for my Camaro build. It will be a replica of my very first car! I had a lot of good times with it. That included Girls , racing, and cruising I still have the original motor on an engine stand in my garage. and it only has 68,000 miles on it. In 1975 my Mom bought the car brand new from Van Chevrolet for a total of $5500 When I turned 16 in 1984 I bought it from her for only $200 My parents wanted me too pay something for it? So I would appreciate it more. I never wrecked it but I did race it a lot and eventually blew the transmission up! So it sat for a number of years until I sold it for $300 in 2005 But I did keep the motor . Unfortunately I don't have any original photo's of it, they have been lost ? But I did find a few on line that looked exactly like mine did. Hence Now the build can begin ! Stay tuned for it is going too take a lot of work too pull this off? follow along for it will be a very long ride step by step... P.S I'll never have the money too buy another one, but I can build one in scale and relive all the good memories ! Attachments:

All in all the kit is pretty generic , I am going to haft to do a lot of scratch building to make it the way I want it to look? The kit has a total of 168 pieces and a lot of the under hood details are molded in. For this big of scale molded in details just wont cut it ! I will haft too come up with a game plan before I attack it. lots of cutting will be taking place and I will haft too make reinforcements too the body just like the real thing. First and foremost the T-tops haft too go ! stay tuned

Getting rid of the T-tops is not very easy. I first glued the panels in really good, then I sanded the roof with 100 grit sand paper to give the plastic a real good bite, I then applied a coat of polyester glazing compound with the hardner. It dries in ten minuets! there was a slight dip in the center of the roof. I will build it up using the putty. lots of sanding to do yet, and it will probably take two or three more coats of putty to level things out? The green tape is to protect the window trim , stay tuned more to come !
